   Preparing Your Electronic Files For Transfer

When sending us a file via internet,, reduce transmission time by compressing the entire file -- including graphics and fonts -- into one big file. Do this by coping all files into it's own directory, compress that directory, and ftp it to us. You can use such compression software as Winzip, or Stuffit for PC or Mac.

We can accept computer files from your disk, or via internet, for production by following these simple guidelines.

The two major desktop computer platforms are PC and Mac. In the past, there were problems communicating between these two platforms. Today, these problems are greatly reduced, especially when using our recommended software programs.

If your hardware and software is capatable with ours, the translation of the data is simple. The less the two systems match, the greater the chance problems may occur. We can often go into the file, and try to fix these problems, but that's not always successfull. In addition, in cases where information is successfully converted, some adjustments may be required for printing.

For example, if we do not have the type font you used to create the document -- or if it is a "bargain" font -- the entire document may not format correctly. The type may be the wrong size, the spacing may not be correct, and the whole document may not flow, the way it was originally laid out.
